MLK Day fair connects Spokanites to real estate and education resources | News [Video]

SPOKANE, Wash. — Several organizations came together for a community resource fair in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

Monday’s fair, held at Spokane Convention Center and hosted by the Martin Luther King Junior Family Outreach Center, featured real estate, healthcare, education and scholarship organizations aimed at providing resources to build community. 

It was held after the annual Unity March through downtown Spokane. 

“Dr. King expressed the importance of service and giving back to others, and here we gathered together a lot of nonprofits so you can do that,” Freda Gandy, Director of MLK Jr. Family Outreach Center said. 

Attendees of the fair could sign up for classes about home ownership and how to pay for higher education. 

“Fostering a strong sense of community and leadership, that is something we have really been focusing on,” Charina Carothers, Planning Committee for Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Program said.
