FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday.
But the celebrations have already begun in mid-Michigan.
Saturday, Gloria Coles Flint Public Library hosted its 40th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Community Celebration.
ABC 12’s own Matt Franklin was there to provide the keynote address.
The all-ages event celebrated and honored Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy.
Saturday’s theme was “Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice, and Democracy in the Spirit of Non-violence.”
“We were talking about all the things that were possible in our community and as individuals,” said Executive Director of Flint Public Library Taliah Abdullah. “It’s always, always really appreciative of the community when we come together, especially when we come together for the library, and we just talk about the impact that Dr. King has.”
