The second round of microbusiness license applications will be accepted via an online portal from April 15-29.

ST. LOUIS — Missouri cannabis regulators are getting ready to issue a second round of small-scale cannabis business licenses.

Missouri’s Department of Health and Senior Services, which oversees the state’s marijuana program, on Tuesday said it will accept the second round of microbusiness license applications through an online portal from April 15-29 and issue 48 licenses in July.

The microbusiness program is meant to boost opportunities in the industry for businesses in disadvantaged communities, and it was part of the constitutional amendment to legalize recreational marijuana that voters passed in November 2022.

DHSS started the process of issuing its first round of microbusinesses last July, before announcing lottery results in August and naming 48 winners in October. Nearly a quarter of the first-round license winners were in December deemed ineligible, as they didn’t meet requirements of the microbusiness program.

A third round of 48 licenses will be issued in 2025.
