A new court ruling could mean consumers of marijuana products will be paying less for those products.On Tuesday, an appellate court in the Eastern Missouri District ruled cities and counties can’t stack taxes on top of each other.“We think it’s a great day for the consumers of the state of Missouri,” said John Mueller, owner of Greenlight Dispensaries.His company has 16 stores across the state of Missouri.The court ruling stated that based on the constitutional amendment Missouri voters approved in 2022, cities can add a 3% sales tax to recreational marijuana use, but counties can’t add an additional tax.Counties can only tax marijuana sales at stores in unincorporated areas where the county is the local tax jurisdiction.Legislator Manny Abarca said Jackson County hasn’t included the marijuana sales tax in its budget.However, he said the estimated $4 million to $8 million in revenue has been targeted for use.“I think the revenue …
