Mississippians react to Trump’s mass deportation plans [Video]

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – President-elect Donald Trump says he’s ready to follow through on campaign promises of mass deportations.

He confirmed through social media that he plans to declare a national emergency and use the military to carry out mass deportations for those in the country illegally.

We checked in for reactions from Mississippians on those comments.

Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance Legal Project Director Patricia Ice says she’s already starting to get calls from the immigrant community.

There’s a lot they don’t know yet about how mass deportation would be carried out. But they are working to do things like update their “know your rights” information.
