Missing 93-year-old woman found in Sumner County using drone [Video]

GALLATIN, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Sumner County Emergency Management Agency turned to technology to find a missing 93-year-old woman.

The woman was reported missing and found shortly after in an overgrown field by using a drone.

“Time was of the essence and especially situations like this,” Sumner County Emergency Management Director Ken Weidner said.

Weidner said a 93-year-oldwoman with Alzheimer’s was reported missing from her home.

“We responded to the location with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Officer, Sumner EMS, and volunteer fire in that community,” Deputy Director Mickey Summers said.

Moments later Summers said he pulled out his drone.

“I launched a drone and in less than one minute, I had located her with the thermal imaging that’s on the camera itself,” Summers said. “Before I said, ‘Hey, I’ve got her,’ I actually flew to her location and turned the live camera on to make sure that it was what I was looking at before I put it out …
