FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA)– Adam Wolfe, a radiation oncologist and assistant professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), is shedding light on the critical early warning signs of pancreatic cancer and the importance of timely medical intervention.
In an interview, Wolfe emphasized the often-vague symptoms of pancreatic cancer, which can include abdominal pain, jaundice (yellowing of the skin), and significant weight loss over a short period. He also noted that some patients may experience nausea, vomiting, or the sudden onset of diabetes. Given the variability of symptoms, Wolfe stressed the importance of consulting a local doctor if any of these issues arise.
Wolfe detailed several risk factors associated with pancreatic cancer. Environmental factors and genetics both play a role, he explained.
