ONE BREAK-IN HAPPENED ON OCTOBER NINTH. ANOTHER ONE HAPPENED ON THE 10TH. A LOT OF DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING AND MATERIALS NEEDED TO KEEP THEIR MISSION GOING. NOW GONE. THIS IS THE DOOR WHERE THEY BROKE IN. THIS DOOR TO DOMINICAN CENTER NEAR 25TH AND LOCUST IN MILWAUKEE IS NOW BOARDED UP FROM THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. AFTER TWO BREAK-INS, THEY HAPPENED BACK TO BACK OCTOBER NINTH AND THEN AGAIN ON THE 10TH. TVS, COMPUTERS, TABLETS, HALLOWEEN COSTUMES GONE. WHAT’S LEFT? PLENTY OF DAMAGE. THE DOOR FRAME STRIPPED. THE YOUTH ROOM DESTROYED. SNACKS, BOOKS, ART SUPPLIES DISCARDED, A RANGE OF EMOTIONS FROM ANGER TO SADNESS TO REALLY QUESTIONING WHY SOMEONE WOULD DO SUCH A THING. WE’RE HERE TO SERVE THE NEIGHBORHOOD, TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY. AND IF SOMEONE HAS A NEED, THEY CAN JUST ASK. DOMINICAN CENTER IS A NONPROFIT WORKING FOR NEARLY 30 YEARS TO REVITALIZE THE AMANI NEIGHBORHOOD. …
