CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — A former state lawmaker, who is currently the Republican candidate in Connecticut’s 2nd congressional district race, is doubling down on a social media post receiving a bit of backlash.

Mike France (R-Conn) put up a breast cancer awareness month post on his campaign Facebook page this week, showing him holding a sign that reads: “Don’t know how to check your breasts? I can help.”
France tells News 8 his team put up the post inspired by ad campaign.
“The ad that we found was from a successful marketing campaign for breast cancer awareness,” France said. “It was published in Australia, and we used that as an ad to get attention to this very serious disease.”
His team took it down after receiving criticism and posted a different graphic. But some democratic leaders are voicing concerns over the post, including Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz.
