SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) — The Midwest Animal Sheltering Conference started on Thursday in Springfield.
The conference offers educational workshops, speakers, and showcases of products aimed at helping animals in shelters. The Missouri Coalition of Animal Care Organizations hosts the event, and organizers hope to shape the future of animal rescues and care.
“So the goal of this event is education, which is continuing education,” said Tim Yeaglin of Best Friends Animal Society. “(Also to) see what we can do to improve efficiencies. We know animal shelters are at capacity or overcapacity. So, what are things that we can do creatively? Have networking opportunities to work with other organizations to see if we can get more adoptions, move animals out, potentially transfer foster things like that.”
The event lasts through Saturday.
