Midtown Dallas to host its back to school fair Saturday [Video]

Fair Park may host the biggest “back to school” fair in Dallas, but another neighborhood is planning its own event on Saturday. The Midtown Improvement District’s Back to School Fair runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vickery Park Branch Library.

The Midtown Improvement District will give away 100 Old Navy gift cards and 500 backpacks.

“It will be a fully-packed backpack,” Co-Executive Director Shannon Freeman said. “It’s going to come with a water tumbler, lip balm, hand sanitizer, pens, pencils, two packs of looseleaf, wide-ruled paper, three folders, a ruler, and erasers.”

Freeman said the fair will also have glitter tattoos, face paint, music and food.

“That excitement pulls in the community and then it gets the community prepared for those kids,” she said. “It also shows they’re within the community. It’s thriving, they care about their health, their wellness, their safety.”
