Midland Park could see schools change as early as 2026 [Video]

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The Charleston County School District hopes to expand education for the Midland Park community as early as 2026.

The district wants to purchase 2427 Midland Park Road from North Charleston and turn it into a school property. City council voted unanimously on Thursday to pass it through a first reading.

Under the agreement, the district would pay around $1.2 million for 2.3 acres of land.

“In the last several years, we’ve invested more than $6 million in that facility,” Chief Operating Officer Jeff Borowy says. “If you’ve been out there, we’ve got 6.4 acres in our name, but the campus is chockerblocked.”

The land in question is home to the Midland Park Ministry Center and Food Distribution Center.

District Two Councilmember Rhonda Jerome says she wants to ensure the proceeds continue to fuel Midland Park.
