STEVENS, Pa. — Wildlife officials with the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area are keeping a close eye on the spread of avian flu cases, as thousands of snow geese prepare to migrate over Lancaster County.
“I don’t want to see them die off,” said Holly Kendall, a parkgoer from Berks County.
Each year, roughly 50,000-100,000 migrating birds make their way to Middle Creek around February and March. The great migration event draws in hundreds of people from across the Commonwealth.
“If you come at the right time, like the end of the day, they’ll be coming in from the fields and it’ll be flock, after flock, after flock,” said Kendall.
