BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Midcoast Tree Festival was closing out its final weekend of fundraising with record-breaking success right after Thanksgiving.
It’s the sixth time organizers have hosted the annual outreach event, which was held this year at the St. John’s Community Center in Brunswick.
Several local businesses donate resources and time each year to decorate a holiday tree sprinkled with gift cards, prizes, and presents, which are then raffled off. There were more than 50 trees this year, and the event raised more than $45,000.
Funds raised benefit the Spectrum Generation’s meal program, All Saints Parish emergency assistance, and the Bath-Brunswick Regional Chamber’s workforce development system.
Corey King, who works at the local chamber, is one of the event organizers. King said the impact goes far beyond the money raised.
