COLUMBIA — Mid-Missourians have weighed in on the halt to a 15-month conflict in Gaza after Israeli and Hamas leaders agreed to a six-week ceasefire deal on Wednesday.
The agreement also includes a swap of hostages and prisoners by each side.
“I think that everybody is feeling really relieved,” said Rabbi Jeanne Snodgrass, the executive director of the University of Missouri Hillel.
“The first notification that I actually got about it came from a friend in the community here who has family over there, who texted and basically said, ‘There’s a ceasefire deal and I’m crying right now,'” Snodgrass continued. “It was so much tension, trying to see it happen and watching over the course of so many months, so many potential deals fall through.”
