Miami residents recover from storms as one family faces home loss [Video]

MIAMI, Okla. — Last night’s storms affected several parts of the Ottawa County community and left one resident without a home.

Miami emergency management crews say last night more than 1,000 residents were left without power at any given moment following the severe storms.

Today those numbers are significantly lower, as city officials say about 30 residents now remain without electricity.

Experts say Miami saw wind gusts at 60 to 65 miles per hour during the storms.

Several large downed trees, downed power lines and poles, and even roof damage to one city structure were reported.

Miami resident Alisha Brodrick lost the entire roof of their home and received significant damage inside.
