Mexia shooting under investigation | Authorities say public is not in danger [Video]

MEXIA, Texas — The Mexia Police Department is investigating the death of a person who was shot on Saturday morning, according to a press release.

Mexia police began receiving calls at 6:31 a.m. on Saturday about a shooting, but the calls did not lead police to a specific location. A call received at 6:38 a.m. indicated the shooting happened in the 700 block of East Liberty Street in Mexia, Mexia PD stated.

Law enforcement reportedly found the person unresponsive in a front yard. The individual, who had been shot, died despite efforts by EMS personnel.

Mexia PD said they are investigating the incident.
