MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A historic site in Meriden is preparing to become a mixed-use housing development.
A groundbreaking Thursday celebrated the kickoff of the project to convert the Aeolian Organ and Music Company Building on Tremoth Street into the future location of 80 housing units.
“We’re cleaning up these brownfield, which are everywhere in this district,” U.S. Rep Jahana Hayes (D-Conn.) said. “We have a history of manufacturing, and this community has had to live with this blighted property for so long. And I can imagine the excitement and the anticipation of seeing it transformed.”
The complex will be named the Tremont Flats at the Piano Factory. The one bedroom and two bedroom units will be rented from $650 to $1,900 a month.
