Mayor Woodfin addresses citys efforts to curtail violent crime in press conference [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin addressed the city in a press conference Tuesday. He spoke about what the city is doing to tackle violent crime, as well as how they are encouraging the next generation to follow a different path.

The Mayor says people must stop harboring criminals, and share what they know.

“It does not matter what people do as long as everyone is active in saying ‘this is my block, this is my street and I am going to protect it. If I see any form of crime I will to report it’. Birmingham, Alabama would be a safer place.”

The Mayor says he has been encouraged by the community’s response and efforts to step up. He also shared an update on the pilot safety program in East Lake that is limiting people’s ways in and out of the historic neighborhood.
