LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and housing officials discussed a new downtown affordable housing complex at a news conference Thursday morning.
Baird emphasized the importance of this project by stating its efforts will ensure everyone in Lincoln has a safe, affordable and high-quality place to call home.
She also stated that the city’s partnership with The Annex Group, a multifamily development firm, has brought her team more than halfway towards achieving their goal of creating 5,000 new, rehabilitated, affordable housing units by 2030.
The affordable housing complex would create 175 new units between M and N streets on 9th and is being funded by $5.6 million in city incentives.
The units have several different layout options, ranging from one bedroom up to four. Each will also have in-unit laundry facilities, all solid surfaces, an on-site playground and nearby transportation options.
