NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and Governor Jeff Landry revealed plans to ask President Joe Biden for federal support to bolster Mardi Gras security in response to the tragic Bourbon Street attack, speaking at an FBI press conference Sunday.
Federal investigators also provided an update on the truck-ramming and shooting attack that happened during New Year’s Day celebrations. President Biden is scheduled to visit New Orleans on Monday.
Cantrell said she has specifically requested that the White House assist the City of New Orleans by sending a tactical expert this week to map the city for target-hardening measures.
Strengthening public safety is her top priority.
