Much has been made of Jerod Mayo’s comments from Sunday, where he called his team “soft” after their 32-16 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) at Wembley Stadium in London.
He attempted to walk these comments back during his “Mayo Monday” appearance with The Greg Hill Show. But unfortunately for the first-year head coach, the internet had already taken hold of the story, and the talk shows had already made it a lead topic for the week.
Two of those shows happened to feature former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who was quick to defend his former players against Mayo’s postgame criticism.
“I’m kind of hurt for those guys, because to call them soft – they’re not soft,” Belichick told “The Pat McAfee Show” on ESPN.
