LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Having a warm place to sleep and a hot meal on the table are necessities not everyone in the capital city has. It’s why organizations like Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach have dedicated their time and efforts to help those who are less fortunate. Those efforts are only possible with help from the community.
At the beginning of December, Matt Talbot will be hosting its second annual ‘Shine the Light Walk’ to raise awareness for homelessness by letting participants walk a mile in their guests’ shoes.
Lori Wellman, Director of Development, said through rain or shine the walk will still go on. She explained that those experiencing homelessness often have to walk through harsher elements daily without many of their basic needs.
“There’ll be signs, the whole way lit up with luminaries and you’ll be able to read a little bit about homelessness and our community …
