MATA approves plan to have consulting firm take over temporarily [Video]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) Board has approved a plan that would allow consulting firm TransPro to take over temporarily in order to make improvements to the city’s transit system.

TransPro is the company the City of Memphis hired to look at problems within and ways to improve MATA.

The resolution approved by the MATA board would make some big changes. TransPro would take over oversight of MATA to focus on “customer satisfaction, community trust, and optimization of city investment in MATA.”

To do that, TransPro leadership would be installed – temporarily – at the helm of MATA. John Lewis would become Interim CEO, Steve Hamelin would be interim COO, and Aaron Headley would be interim CFO. The three would serve …
