Massive blaze breaks out in Dublin putting houses at risk with smoke seen for miles as urgent fire warning issued [Video]

DUBLIN Fire Brigade have confirmed that operations aimed at extinguishing a gorse wildfire near Sandyford in Dublin have ended.

The massive blaze broke out in a field in near Fernhill, in the Stepaside area of Co Dublin this afternoon.

The alarm about the fire was raised at around 1pm.

The smoke was seen billowing from the blaze and drifting across the county.

Several sightings of the smoke going over Ballinteer, Sandyford and Dublin Mountains were reported on social media.

Five fire engines, including a water tanker, were brought in to fight the blaze.

Gardai were also on the scene to assist fire crew.

The fire is believed to have broken out on Woodside Road, which is close to several houses.

It is yet unknown how the fire started.
