Authorities in Massachusetts are investigating the killing of a mother of two after video surveillance showed her entering her alleged killer’s home, never to be seen alive again.
Carol Flaz-Burgos, 37, was found dead in Haverhill, Mass., on Sep. 3, days after she disappeared from near her residence in nearby Lawrence, Essex County authorities announced last week.
Her neighbor Cristian Montero, 35, was arrested in connection with her death and initially charged with witness intimidation, the Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker said in a Sep. 4 press release.
On Tuesday, Sep. 10, the D.A.’s office confirmed to PEOPLE that Montero is now set to be arraigned on a murder charge.
Authorities said in their statement that Flaz-Burgos was reported missing on Aug. 31. Her 9-year-old daughter called the victim’s mother and said she was scared because she hadn’t seen her mom in hours, Linette Perez of Lawrence PD, told CBS News.
