READFIELD, Maine — Maranacook Community Middle and High Schools in Readfield reopened Friday following a closure Thursday after a threat was found written in the middle school girls’ bathroom.
The threat found Wednesday afternoon did not involve any other school, Superintendent James Charette said in a letter to parents Thursday afternoon. The high school was closed due to the proximity of the building to the middle school.
There is no suspect in the case, Charette added in his letter. Officials encourage students to speak with a trusted adult if they have any information about what happened.
The school is asking any parents who hear something from their child to contact the middle school office immediately.
“Your partnership is essential as we work to maintain a secure and nurturing school community,” Charette wrote.
