CHICAGO — The manhunt continued Wednesday for the “disgruntled ex-employee” who police say shot two former coworkers at Navy Pier, one of the city’s premiere tourist destinations.
The suspected gunman, believed to be a man who was terminated from his job with a Navy Pier subcontractor in October, allegedly showed up at at an office on the north side of the pier, at 600 E. Grand Ave., about 1:20 Tuesday afternoon and shot the men in the head.
One of the victims was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as 51-year-old Lamont Johnson of Chicago. He’s the father of at least one 11-year-old boy, sources told WGN. The other victim, who police say was 47 years old, has not yet been publicly identified, though loved ones have posted messages about him on social media, describing him as a kind, funny and amazing stepfather to two children.
