Man who made terroristic threat toward downtown hospital in custody, SAPD says [Video]

SAN ANTONIO – A man who called and threatened to shoot up Baptist Medical Center downtown has been arrested, according to SAPD.

According to police, the man who had been a patient at the hospital and was unhappy with his treatment called around 9 a.m. Friday and said he would shoot at the hospital, located at 100 Dallas St., police said.

Police said during a press conference that the man had been identified but was not in custody.

An SAPD spokesperson, in a text to KSAT, confirmed the man had been taken into custody around 2 p.m.

A preliminary report from police said the man, identified as 64-year-old Armando Martinez, was arrested without incident. No weapons were found with him or in his vehicle, the report said.

Police did not provide information about the man’s identity during the press conference.
