Man shot, killed by Sumter deputy, GBI says [Video]

AMERICUS, Ga. — A man who barricaded himself in a Sumter County home was shot and killed by a Sumter County Sheriff’s deputy after they said he pointed a rifle at law enforcement, according to a press release from the GBI.

They say Jamie Lynn Still, 45, was barricaded in a house in the 1100 block of South Georgia Tech Parkway with a gun and his family was inside the home with him.

At some point, gunshots rang out, the press release said. 

The GBI says deputies attempted to talk with Still, trying to get him to drop the rifle, but he refused.

That’s when they say Still walked outside and aimed his rifle at deputies, which led to a deputy shooting Still.
