Man dead, woman arrested after shooting in Fort Valley [Video]

FORT VALLEY, Ga. — A Byron man is dead after a shooting in Fort Valley early Saturday morning, according to a Fort Valley Police Department press release.

The release said that officers arrived at a residence within the 400 block of Pecan Avenue due to a gunshot fired at an intruder at someone’s home. When they arrived, they found a man shot and a woman crying in the front yard of her home near a gun. 

According to Coroner Kerry Rooks, the man shot was Quinton Owens, 67, who was transported to Atrium Health Navicent. Rooks said he was pronounced dead around 3 a.m.

The release said that after an investigation, officers determined that Shawn Evans, 55, shot Owens, who was allegedly intruding into her house. They charged her with murder and …
