Man charged with murder in fatal Bellefontaine Neighbors shooting of brother [Video]

BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS, Mo. — A man was charged with murder Saturday afternoon after police said he shot and killed his brother in Bellefontaine Neighbors Friday night.

Tyrone Johnson, 28, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Gerrick Fortenberry.

In a press release, the department said officers with the Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department were called to a home on Laire Drive at about 8:40 p.m. for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Fortenberry suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

He was rushed to an area hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department requested the St. Louis County Police Department take over the case. The county’s Crimes Against Persons detectives are handling the ongoing homicide investigation.
