The Sheriff’s Office says the arrest was just the first step in a larger investigation into animal cruelty in Georgia.
JOHNSON COUNTY, Ga. — A man has been arrested and charged with over 20 counts of animal cruelty in Johnson County, according to a press release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
They say that Bernard Wallace, 52, was arrested on Sunday, Dec. 8, and charged with 25 counts of animal cruelty, with other charges pending.
The Sheriff’s Office says their investigation into animal cruelty began in October 2024, and Wallace’s arrest was only one step in stopping a larger problem in the community.
The release says the animals have been safely removed from Wallace’s property, with help from the United States Department of Agriculture. They say 40 dogs were found at the location.
