MAHNOMEN, Minn. (Valley News Live) – One man has been arrested after a baby ended up in the hospital in Mahnomen, Minnesota.
On December 23, The Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office was informed that a three month old baby boy was being taken to the Mahnomen Health Center because he was not breathing.
After investigation, deputies say that the baby had suffered from non-accidental trauma, commonly known as “Shaken Baby Syndrome.”
A press release states that Mahnomen County Investigators and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension performed a thorough investigation, which lead to the arrest of the baby’s father, 35 year-old Derek Croud, Sr., on January 8.
According to the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office, Croud is in custody and faces charges of first degree assault and domestic assault.
The press release says the baby is still in the hospital and is stable, but lasting effects are unknown.
