It happened at an On The Fly gas station off of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard.
CLEARWATER, Fla. — A man from Tampa was arrested on Friday after police say he tried to carjack someone at a gas station.
A driver was pumping gas when the man asked for a ride to Tampa. When the driver said no, the man “tried to get into the car and a fight ensued,” police explained in a press release.
The attempted carjacker, identified by police as 44-year-old Brian L. Davis, is accused of using a “large piece of metal” as a weapon during the fight.
The driver’s friend then exited the gas station and tried to defend the driver. That’s when Davis allegedly pulled out a knife.
Police arrived soon after and arrested Davis, who’s facing an armed carjacking charge, as well as charges of aggravated assault and criminal mischief.
