Man accused of attacking mother allegedly attacked an elderly man [Video]

WDSU is learning new details about the man accused of attacking his mother with a chainsaw and hurting two New Orleans police officers in the process. John Pittman, 34, appeared in court Tuesday afternoon. Prosecutors said Pittman was out on bond and facing charges in a second attack that happened less than a year ago.Court documents show in August 2023, Pittman was arrested for beating an elderly man at Union Passenger Station.The documents said someone called for help inside the station’s restroom, and when an Amtrak security officer responded, that person yelled for them to stop Pittman. According to the documents, “the Amtrak security advised that as they got closer to Mr. Pittman he clinched his fist and verbally communicated to them, I just want to go home.” The documents also said a white male, identified as Dale Ball, was lying on his back with a medium-sized puddle of blood …
