PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 32-year-old man was booked for murder and assault in connection with the Thursday night shooting at the Vancouver Mall that left one person dead and two others wounded.

Just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Travis L. Ward surrendered to Vancouver police after a home was surrounded, officials said in a press release. Detectives followed up on information that Ward was inside the home and, with the help of a SWAT unit, took him into custody.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday near the mall’s food court. The shooter shot one person and “fired other rounds that struck two other individuals.”
