Major GAAGO switch up as Croke Park attempt to buy RTE control of controversial platform amid ‘new branding rumours’ [Video]

THE GAA are looking at the possibility of purchasing RTE’s share of controversial streaming platform GAAGO, it has been claimed.

The national broadcaster and the sports body each hold a 50 per cent stake in the service, but Croke Park may attempt to take full control in a bid to create their own broadcasting site, it has been reported.

In October, it was revealed that subscription revenues at the joint venture surged last year by €2.6m – a massive 118 per cent increase – to €4.96m.

Launched in 2014, GAAGO has been subject of much criticism in the past two years since it picked up the rights to matches that had previously aired on Sky Sports.
