THOUSANDS are set for a major cash boost as a vital social welfare payment scheme is being expanded.
The Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, announced on Tuesday that the Fuel Allowance is set to be expanded to Employment Support Scheme participants.
For the upcoming season of the allowance, the time a person spends on an Employment Support Scheme will now count towards the qualifying period.
This includes those on community employment, Tús and the Rurial Social Scheme.
This measure is set to benefit those who leave a qualifying payment in order to gain from the Employment Support Scheme.
