Maine DEP deems air around Orrington to be at an acceptable level. [Video]

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – The Maine DEP has issued a press release regarding the Orrington Eagle Point Energy Center fire that started Tuesday evening.

The air quality alert from October 3rd has been discontinued as the Maine DEP has declared the air quality in and around Orrington to be at an acceptable level.

With their new forecast, the air has been deemed safe to breathe by both the general public and groups sensitive to air pollution, such as children, the elderly, or those suffering from respiratory illnesses.

The Maine DEP and CDC will continue to monitor particle levels in the areas surrounding Orrington.

Real-time air quality data is readily available at the EPA’s Fire and Smoke Map.

The public is encouraged to call the Orrington Fire Department at (207) 825-3530 if they have any concerns regarding the fire.
