NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – After a postal service assessment in the first quarter of 2024, the North Charleston postal facility is one of many getting multi-million-dollar investments over the next decade to improve processes.
In March, The Postal Service announced its plans to invest between $14 million and $16 million into the Charleston facility for modernization, deferred maintenance, new vehicle infrastructure and new processing automation equipment. It’s part of a nationwide $14 billion decade-long investment plan called the Delivering for America plan.
About $4 million in North Charleston is designated for new mail and processing equipment. A Single Induction Package Sorter (SIPS) arrived at the facility in November.
