Magic City breakfast supports Alabama’s historically Black colleges [Video]

The Birmingham Business Alliance (BBA) and the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) are hosting their annual Magic City HBCU Breakfast Thursday at the Harbert Center to support historically Black colleges in Alabama.”It’s a really great way to start your morning off and think about the classic week,” said Meredith Drennen, vice president of investor relations at BBA.The decades-old event aims to give back to students attending any HBCU in Alabama.”Your money is doing something amazing for a student, but also because the classic is just such a great event,” Drennen said.”Scholarship money helps students pay for college, pay for expenses. Any help, especially when they’re going to an HBCU, is particularly important. HBCUs are historically underfunded,” Drennen added.The funds raised from ticket sales for the breakfast are donated to the UNCF.”Education is something valuable to donate to,” said Casi Ferguson, UNCF area director for Alabama and Mississippi.”This is about setting …
