COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The Macy’s store at Silver Lake Mall will close as part of the company’s plan to shut down more than 60 locations across the U.S.
According to a news release from Macy’s, the company will close 66 stores nationwide and plans to shutter an additional 150 “unproductive” stores over the next three years. The Silver Lake Mall location in Coeur d’Alene will be among the first to close.
“Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Chapter strategy, we are closing underproductive Macy’s stores to allow us to focus our resources and prioritize investments in our go–forward stores, where customers are already responding positively to better product offerings and elevated service,” said Tony Spring, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s, Inc.
