Macon-Bibb County adding new cameras in 4 school zones [Video]

They said two of the new cameras would be used to issue tickets, while the other two would only be used for citations over the first month.

MACON, Ga. — Four school zones will be used to enforce speeding laws starting Monday, Sept. 9, according to a release from Macon-Bibb County

They say cameras in the Vineville Academy of the Arts and Heritage Elementary School will now be used to issue speeding tickets. 

Cameras have also been installed to the zones at the Academy for Classical Education (ACE) and Bernd Elementary School, according to the release. Those cameras will only be used to issue warnings until Oct. 21, when they will also be used to issue tickets.

The release says citations will only be issued from the cameras when a vehicle travels more than 10 miles per hour over the speed limit in a school zone. The first citation will be $100, …
