Looking back, Science Saru was, for a long time, the studio known for producing Masaaki Yuasa’s films and shows. It’s not surprising, given that Yuasa co-founded the studio with producer Eunyoung Choi. Yuasa brings a distinctive visual style to his projects—from the unique character designs to the overall aesthetic and fluidity of movement. His work is unmistakable. So when I decided to watch Lu Over the Wall for the first time, I had no idea what to expect. The only thing I knew was that people who saw it at Scotland Loves Anime 2017 were thrilled by it.
