LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lincoln Transportation and Utilities is getting one more winter-related exercise to close out 2024 as precipitation has made the change over from rain to snow in the Capital City.
LTU says they have crews out monitoring overpasses and main roads in an effort to prevent any icing as temperatures slowly decline overnight. The department adds that they will salt streets as needed through the morning commute on New Year’s Eve.
“[As of 9:25 p.m.,] streets are wet with surface temperatures around 35 and falling,” LTU stated in a press release. “Overnight freezing of wet surfaces is likely. Drivers should use caution and watch for slick spots, especially on untreated surfaces.”
