Lowcountry celebrates Americans with Disabilities Act [Video]

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Cities across the country are celebrating the Americans with Disabilities Act this week.

In the Lowcountry, an event is set for North Charleston. Michelle Scott and Alex Jackson serve as commissioners for the city of Charleston Mayor’s Commission on Disability Issues. They talk about their work on the commission, to ensure that persons with any disability, can enjoy and have access to stores, parks, businesses, and recreation locations in Charleston.

The public is invited to attend a celebration on Wednesday from 4- 7 p.m. at the Park Circle Community Center in North Charleston.

Ms. Wheelchair America, Chandra Smith, will be the guest speaker, sharing her platform on digital accessibility and her experiences living with a disability.
