Louisville Pride Festival in the Highlands celebrates diversity, inclusion | News from WDRB [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Diversity and inclusion were the focus in the Highlands Saturday for the annual Louisville Pride Festival.

The theme for this year’s LGBTQ event was “Homecoming.”

Bardstown Road was lined with 150 vendors offering crafts, food and clothing. There were drag performances on two stages promoting joy, music, unity and health.

“In the past there hasn’t been a lot of places you were welcome home, where you could feel home and be around all kinds of people, and that is what the homecoming is about,” Richard Coomer, Pride Festival volunteer, said. “It’s about welcoming people back into the community.”

The nonprofit Louisville Pride Foundation started in 2014. It focuses on reducing health disparities within Louisville’s LGBTQ+ community through comprehensive education, outreach and support initiatives.
