Louisiana pet rescue closes shelter, moves to foster-only. Heres how to help them get new office [Video]

GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) — A Louisiana cat rescue group announced on social media Thursday, June 21, that it will be closing its adoption and rescue center while fundraising for and seeking a new office space.

Rescue Alliance has been based at 12484 Hwy 44, Gonzales. The nonprofit announced that it would move to foster only until it can get a new building.

Their adoptable cats are also featured via a partnership with PetSmart at the Gonzales location and on Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge.

Last week, Rescue Alliance said donations have been very low while surrender calls are at an “all-time high.”

Earlier this week, the same organization said it would have to close the Louisiana Pet Food Bank due to a lack of donations. The program helps people struggling financially feed their companion animals.
