Louisiana group wants people to register to vote, check registration before Nov. 5 election [Video]

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Power Coalition for Equity and Justice will be participating in National Voter Registration Day to encourage people to register to vote.

Executive Director Ashley Shelton said now is the time to check your registration status and make sure information is up to date.

“Voting is not just a right—it’s a tool for building power and creating change,” said Shelton. “On National Voter Registration Day, we are reminding people that being registered to vote is one of the most effective ways to shape the future of our communities, particularly for those who have been historically marginalized.”

The group wants people to participate in National Voter Registration Day by visiting the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website to check their registration status and spread the word on social media using the hashtag #RegisterToVote and tag @PowerCoalition.
